Job Title: Museum Manager Reports to: CSHS Board of Directors Classification: Full-time Wage: Dependent on Qualifications (Range $35,000 – $55,000) Benefits: Negotiable Description: The Museum Manager is responsible for directing management of Museum operations including, but not limited to: development and implementation of policies, regulations, budgets, operations, employee relations, training, maintenance, expansion, short & long range planning, customer service, marketing, and other administrative/supervisory direction of all activities at the Museum. Responsibilities:
- Implement Board policies by establishing administrative procedures
- Work closely with the Chair and Board Committees to plan and implement projects and events
- Attend CSHS board meetings, and other activities as appropriate
- Direct the operations of other CSHS employees and volunteers to ensure high standards and performance are maintained
- Make public appearances and CSHS presentations as directed by the Chair of the Board of Directors
- With the Development Coordinator, Treasurer, and Board of Directors, manage the implementation of the current annual budget, and oversee future budget planning and development at the Board’s direction.
- Provide liaison, technical advice, assistance, and administrative support to the CSHS & Museum staff, directors, and committees.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization and respond to public and member inquires and contacts in a timely and knowledgeable manner.
- Support and implement Board policies and actions with individuals, corporations, and governmental agencies.
- Collaborate with local, state, regional, and national organizations and associations to promote the interests of the CSHS, its members, and activities.
- Organize all meetings as directed by the Chair or Vice Chair.
- Maintain and improve CSHS and A Forest Without Trees websites and future expansion
- Provide leadership for outreach to retain and recruit members.
- Serve as a non-voting ex officio member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
- Work with staff and Development Coordinator to plan and execute social media and marketing strategies.
- Work with Development Coordinator and Development Committee to implement fundraising efforts.
- Passion for and commitment to the Central Sierra Historical Society’s mission and guiding values
- Minimum three (3) years of management experience
- Administrative experience with non-profit organizations
- Experience growing an institution or staff
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-starter: able to conceive tasks and see them through with little to no guidance
- Supervisory experience of three (3) or more employees
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web design
- Experience with donor database management
- Superior written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
- Creativity and vision for growth
- Valid California Driver’s License
