Dear Members and Friends of the Museum:
Like the stories we share, the Central Sierra Historical Society – and its partnership with you are unique. For the past 28 years, CSHS has been collecting and preserving artifacts, stories, and archives that together allow us to work toward our mission of enriching the cultural and educational experiences of visitors to the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
I wish I could report that we had a stellar year at our Museum and Learning Center. But it was not to be. On March 17, Covid-19 guidelines forced us to close our museum to visitors before opening in April. In the summer, we were able to open the outdoor exhibits on weekends, but then on September 4, the Creek Fire began, nearly taking our museum. As a result, we had very few visitors, and we had very few donations and gift shop sales. Thanks to the Shaver Lake Fishing Club, we held a Virtual Black Pot Cookoff Event, but we could not have our in-person fundraisers, concerts, presentations, hikes, etc. We need your help now more than ever.
Your contribution to our 2020 ANNUAL YEAR-END APPEAL will help us further our reach and share our area’s history. This leads to a better understanding of our forests and our place in history. You may specify your gift to many of our exciting programs or projects – Partnership In Education Program, Hayden Sawmill Restoration Exhibit, Science Park, Executive Director Fund, General Operations, and more.
No matter what the size, your donation will help the Museum of the Central Sierra move forward. Thank you again for your past support. Your generosity is much appreciated.
